(AFG) Female English Language Instructor
***** THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON GOVERNMENT FUNDING ***** REQUIREMENT OVERVIEW FOR THE GENDER OCCUPATIONAL OPPORTUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Female English Language Instructor to provide English language training to Dari/Pashto-speaking Women members of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in support of the Warfighter FOCUS (WFF) training contract in Kabul, Afghanistan. Female English Language Instructor will improve the Female Afghans’ job-related duties requiring the written comprehension of Dari/Pashto, the comprehension and speaking of English, and provide office/computer skills training to be able to contribute to the Afghan National Army’s mission. Due to cultural sensitivities in the region, the US Army has established a requirement for female trainers to train female Afghan personnel. This is considered a Bona Fide Occupational qualification (BFOQ) for the position. The English Language Instructor must possess a collaborative nature, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in challenging, high-ambiguity work environments. The English Language Instructor reports to the ELT Program Manager and GOOD DPM. WORK HOURS Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to provide ELT instruction, program development, and related tasks for six (6) days per week for up to ten (10) hours per day while at OCONUS work site, and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites. RESPONSIBILITIES Female English Language Instructor responsibilities include, but are not limited to: •Accept tasking and guidance from Program Manager and Training Manager to fulfill training requirements •Plan, design and deliver customized programs of English language instruction •Create lesson plans, presentations, visual aids and other training materials as required •Deliver classroom-based training to students of varying proficiencies •Research and develop specialized language content (ESP) as required •Test taking preparation and strategies •Design, create and administer various training assessments and evaluations •Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required program reports and records •Pursue continuous improvement of training services and products •Set up, rearrange, improvise and maintain physical training spaces as required •Mentor local national English trainers as required •Observe and obey all established safety procedures and protocols •Actively participate in meetings, training, professional development, exercises and drills as directed •Actively participate in the Raytheon performance development process •Observe and comply with all company personnel/administrative processes •Other program duties as assigned REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE •Native English speaker •Minimum 4 years teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) •Minimum 4 years developing curriculum to include design, scope and sequence, adaptation, resource identification and implementation, detailed lesson creation, activity design, supporting materials creation and assessment. •High degree of competency with Microsoft Office productivity suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) •Excellent written and oral communications skills •Superb interpersonal skills, with proven ability to exercise respect and cultural sensitivity – Must be able to obtain and maintain an Interim DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE •Minimum 120-hour teaching certificate (CELTA, TESOL, TEFL, etc.) from an accredited institution •Master’s degree in education-related field •International teaching or training experience, particularly in Muslim cultures and teaching Women. •Experience teaching in operational military environment. •Certified Literacy Master Instructor •Capable of teaching basic and advanced computer competency, basic and advanced Microsoft Office program use (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other specific administration type duties such as filing, office organization – Possess current DoD Secret Security Clearance eligibility PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING ENVIRONMENT •Include but are not limited to the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags during transit not exceed the weight of 70 lbs per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain. •Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas. •As required, must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location. •Must be able to continuously meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards. •Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day. •Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs. •Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders. •Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print. •Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. •Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions. REQUIRED EDUCATION ·Have a BA degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or education-related field from an accredited institution and 4 years of related experience, or 2 years related experience with Master’s degree. MA/MS degree in Education or TESOL is preferred. Eight (8) years of additional equivalent work experience (12 total year) may be considered in lieu of education requirement. If not TESOL certified, be willing to complete certification within 45 days of arriving in country. 83998
