Fire Protection Water Based Systems Specialist
Job Description The candidate must have an AA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Have a working knowledge of UFC, NFPA, NEC and IBC codes in order to identify deficiencies and report those to supervisors, along with preparing reports and follow-up inspections that apply to Water-Based, Special Hazard and/or Fire Alarm Systems. Must have experience in inspecting, testing / troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining of sprinkler systems as well as electronic alarm systems.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing required preventive maintenance inspections, services and repairs. Interface with other trades personnel and on site fire personnel to ensure functionality of systems. Supports construction, repair activities and assists tradesmen with regard to related issues identified in the field or on drawings. Provides input to as-built drawing efforts and recommends solutions to facilitate the corrections. Adheres to project safety requirements and encourages safe work activities.

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements AA degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and technical project experience, is required.
NICET Certifications to at least a Level II or higher in Water-Based, Special Hazard and/or Fire Alarm Systems OR a State License/Certification in Fire Protection.
Other Job Requirements Preferred but not required experience with or certification to work on the following Fire Protection Systems:

• Tornatech Pump Controls
• Gas and Diesel Fire Pump Engines
• Electric Fire Pumps
• Electric Jockey Pumps
• Armstrong Fire Pumps
Be proficient in the use of personal computers utilizing programs as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and database (software) programs.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
