Duties
As an IT Specialist (OS/SYSADMIN), you will be responsible for the following:
- Provide total operating system and system administration support for multiple assigned computer systems
- Deal with assignments which include complex software/hardware system activities
- Apply operating systems principles and methods to ensure optimal availability
- Resolve conflicts, and coordinate work with higher echelon
- Perform research for advanced computer hardware/software concepts and logistics
- Provide technical assistance to co-workers, command, and contractors
Travel Required
- 25% or Greater
- Business travel up to 30% of the time.

Experience required:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: IT related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: (1) Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail. (2) Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; make clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. (4) Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations. IT related experience is demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (IT certification) AND have one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11). Work typically involves: coordinating with team members in planning and implementation of programs; provide direction, technical assistance, and consultative advice on design and implementation of new Information Mission Area equipment, systems and services for the Command; Provide program review and analysis regarding adequacy of Command procedures.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

- Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
- U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
- Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
- In the overseas areas, access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Medical care may be provided by host nation providers. The availability and level of care at host nation medical facilities will vary by location. Movement overseas may require you to initiate a change in your health benefits plan to ensure coverage.

Failure to take immunizations may lead to your removal from position or separation from Federal service. Vacancy will be subject to on-call and irregular work hours. Selection for assignment to this position requires passing an appropriate physical examination for overseas duty. Selection for assignment to this position will require annual physical examinations.
- Position is considered essential to support DAs mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension or mobilization. Position is considered emergency essential because (1) No qualified and immediate replacement exists; (2) having it vacant would/impair effective operation of essential military support system/adversely impact combat mission of deployed forces.
