Summary:

The Virtualization Engineer II is responsible for troubleshooting resource commitment, performance analysis and tuning, and various networking and storage issues in a large scale virtualized production environment; performing basic troubleshooting activities in support of the Ministry of Interior Network Operations Center/Joint Operations Center (MoI NOC/JOC) compound in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Essential Job Functions: (not limited to duties as described – performs related duties as requested)

·Supervise staff of up to three Virtualization Engineers

·Develops troubleshooting procedures

·Supervises troubleshooting In Accordance With (IAW) established procedures

·Able to complete and develop subordinate competency with the following tasks:

o Troubleshoot basic resource commitment issues

o Troubleshoot performance analysis and tuning

o Troubleshoot shared resource storage issues

o Set up systems in new locations, as required

o Assist with trouble calls

·Perform other duties as assigned

Level of Supervision:

·Reports directly to Project Manager (PM)

Education & Experience: (or equivalent)

·Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology related field

·Experience troubleshooting load and disk I/O issues

·Demonstrated exceptional problem solving skills

·Excellent communication and customer service skills

·Able to troubleshoot platform performance in a virtualized environment

·Able to maintain a safety conscious work environment

License & Certifications:

·Industry certifications as appropriate (VCP, VCAP, VCDX, RHCE)

Knowledge & Skills:

·Minimum three years of experience as Virtualization Engineer Supervisor or other related Information Technology (IT) management experience

·Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required

·Able to provide directions and verbal orders with minimal supervision

·Able to develop and enforce advanced step-by-step procedures

·Fluent in English (reading and speaking)

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

·Physically fit to stand and bend for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds

·Use of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) may be mandatory

·Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable

·Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions

Travel:Up to 33% (potential)
