About CARE

Since 2011, CARE has been an implementing partner of GlaxoSmithKline(GSK)’s 20% Reinvestment Initiative in the Asia region. The CARE-GSK partnership intends to contribute to increasing the quantity and quality of Community Health Workers in Asia, focusing on the training of frontline health workers in the most rural and marginalized communities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nepal, Myanmar, Laos and Afghanistan.

CARE is looking for a regional communications consultant who will be based in Cambodia, to raise the profile of the this partnership by securing high-quality national, regional and international media coverage, and by promoting the partnership both externally and internally through a range of PR activities and communication channels including digital and social media, internal communications with partnership stakeholders, events and speaking opportunities.

About you

The consultant should have a background in journalism with a great news sense and an ability to work with a diverse range of colleagues to bring the stories behind the partnership to life, and is expected to have a relevant degree or journalism qualification and the following skills and abilities:
  • Strong news sense; ability to see newsworthy stories quickly and easily

  • Fast, accurate, creative and versatile writing skills, including for digital media

  • Experience in creating engaging social media assets and image editing

  • Good understanding of the issues relating to a health promotion NGO and/or an NGO working in an international arena

  • Strong negotiation skills and persuasive and confident manner in dealing with the media and other stakeholders

  • Ability to analyse complex information quickly and simplify for the media and other external audiences

  • Good political and personal judgment
