(AFG-Kabul) Safety Technician (Global)

PAE is currently seeking a
Safety Technicianto support the US Department of State and will be stationed at Kabul, Afghanistan. The candidate will work on construction and maintenance sites including exposure to the dangers inherent with such sites.
Responsibilities:
The
Safety Technicianwill:
* Develop a site-specific safety and health plan.
Ensure that subcontractor personnel comply with the plans and with PAE’s safety policies and procedures.
Monitor and discuss safety issues with the subcontractor personnel, along with other work progress issues, at daily meetings.
Conduct weekly safety meetings, recommend safety issues for discussion and obtain sign-in sheets to verify subcontractor staff attendance.
Act independently as CQC while coordinating all QC functions so as not to delay construction scheduling.
Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other customer regulations.
Review and interpret contract drawings.
Review provisions that have been made to provide required control inspection and testing.
Prepare CQC submittal plan for project.
Efficient management of project submittals.
Check to assure all materials and or equipment have been tested, submitted and approved.
Examine the work area to assure that all required work has been completed and is in compliance with the contract requirements and resolve any differences.
Determine, communicate, and document deficiencies and ensure they are corrected in a timely manner.
Communicate with Project Manager in a clear and understandable manner about all status updates.
Perform daily checks to assure control activities, including testing/compliance, and document all results.
Conduct all completion inspections – punch-out, pre-final and final acceptance.
Maintain current records providing factual evidence that required quality control activities and/or tests have been performed.
Manages difficult customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and sub-contractors.
Develop and implement quality control programs.
Confer with supervisory personnel, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
In conjunction with the Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the implementation of PAE SOP’s, policies and procedures and reporting any deviations to the Project Manager.
Performs other functions as maybe tasked by the Project Manager.
Qualifications:
At least 10 years’ experience in QC/QA functions, preferably in Construction field is required.
Prior experience in independently planning, managing, auditing safety and health related issues for a site are required.
Valid industry specific Certifications like OSHA Compliance related, Construction Quality Management are required.
Demonstrated knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses or buildings is required.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses or buildings
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
Ability to work effectively around multi-cultural workforce is required.
Must have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
Must be able to clear Minimum Risk Public Trust (MRPT) process and maintain MRPT status through out the duration of the contract. US Citizenship is NOT required.
Must have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
Must be willing to travel periodically (with extended overnight stays) as required while working on projects at other locations in Afghanistan.
