(AFG-Kabul) S6 (Communications) Trainer
THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING
The S6 Trainer shall implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing optimal utilization of personnel. Design and administer programs to train all levels of personnel on communication, signal and IT operations, S-6 Section organizational management, conduct IT Networking, HF and VHF training. When necessary, develop tests and visual aids, coordinate class arrangements, conduct training classes, develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities, and develop train the trainer classes. Develop programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. If required, may use technical experts to assist in training.
Work Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to twelve (12) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.
Responsibilities:
Train the Afghan Communications officer to lead and manage the Signal Platoon for the purpose of establishing reliable and redundant radio communications to higher headquarters and subordinate units in a tactical environment.
Report to Team Lead as well as Program Manager
Responsible for regularly interacting with US military personnel
Based on circumstances that are unique to their work locations, trainers will be responsible for making on the scene decisions as to how to execute the curriculum
Along with their local site managers, trainers will be responsible for assessing how well
the ANA students have learned the coursework
Required Operational Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Must be able to obtain and Maintain a US DoD Secret Clearance
Have been an E7 or higher US military communications specialist with an MOS equal to U.S. Army 25/94 or 18E series with at least 4years experience in planning, establishing and maintaining VHF and HF tactical and operational radio and IT networks.
Must be able to competently operate a Personal Computer to include excellent skills with MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel, etc.)

Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
Good Organizational Skills
Good Project Management Ability and Skills
Have experience/knowledge in frequency management
Possess knowledge in the trouble shooting and repair of handheld, man-pack and vehicle mounted VHF and HF radio systems
Possess knowledge of manual encryption and decryption techniques and procedures;
Experience in maintenance management
Experience in establishing the communications infrastructure supporting a battalion Tactical Operations Center (TOC) and supporting the communications requirements of a foot-mobile company level command and control node to include extensive experience in HF and VHF system establishment
Posses a basic knowledge of satellite and cellular telephone communication systems
Experience with IT systems is greatly desired
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Must be willing to work, live, and travel in Afghanistan
Must be willing to work in harsh or adverse environments
Must be willing to deploy and live on forward operating bases operated by Coalition Forces in austere conditions without regular U.S. PX and Commissary facilities
Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment as required. In the conduct of their training contractors may encounter hostile forces
Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
Must be able to communicate by voice and ear over telephone
May be required to lift objects whose weight may not exceed 30 pounds
The ability to read, write, and interpret technical data
May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure
May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Active U.S. DOD Secret Security Clearance
Prefer Infantry or Special Operations background
Prefer previous experience training and advising foreign military soldiers
Required Education:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of related work experience. Additional years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
