PAE is currently seeking PAE is currently seeking an Electrician to support the US Department of State and will be stationed at Camp Sullivan, Kabul, Afghanistan.
Responsibilities:
The Electrician will: – Work on installation, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage electrical systems ranging from 600 volt to 15kv including the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of electric power plant and/or overhead and underground primary electrical distribution systems and elements. – Proactively analyze a situation and make frequent technical decisions based on specifications and electrical codes and standards. – Work on installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical panel boards, wiring conduits, switches, breakers, lighting, fixtures, transformers, receptacles, motors, conduit and general wiring installations of electrical equipment in accordance with electrical codes. – Collect, analyze and summarize data and prepare daily reports and work orders. – Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test equipment. – Repair malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses and replacing defective wiring. – Inspect circuits for specified shielding and grounding. – Report any malfunctions or lack of compliance to the Electrical Supervisor. – Available to travel to other locations/sites within Afghanistan; travel expected to be less than 10% of the total time. – Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) is required, relevant 2 and 4 year degrees are strongly preferred. – Must have an Electrical Vocational Diploma, completed an Electrical Apprentice program with a Journeyman Certificate or equivalent verifiable training from a credible training institution. – A minimum of three years hands-on experience working with medium range voltages from 600 volt to 15kv and working experience involved in the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of electric power plant and/or overhead and underground primary electrical distribution systems and elements, is required. – Must have knowledge of the occupational hazards of the electrical trade and related safety precautions. Considerable skill in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical panel boards, switches, breakers, lighting, transformers, receptacles, motors, conduit and general wiring installations in accordance with electrical codes. – Must have a minimum of two years experience working level as a Journeyman Electrician. – Prior experience in analyzing a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety and electrical code is required. – US Citizenship is NOT required; Candidate must be able to clear and maintain MRPT. – Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance projects in an international environment preferred. – Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and prepare daily reports and work orders. – Must have good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently. – Excellent oral and communication skills in English are required. – Good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) are required. – Must be willing to travel periodically (with extended overnight stays) as required while working on projects at other locations in Afghanistan.
