(AFG) RTCH Operator


RTCH Operator

Job Description Rough Terrain Container Handler (RTCH). Performs PMCS on designated vehicles IAW current SOP or as instructed. Crane Operator must understand and fill out Crane Daily inspection document. Conduct Wire Rope monthly Inspections. Complete lift checklist. Loads/helps load cargo such as containers (20 and 40 ft), vehicles, crates, pallets, boxes etc. in a safe and secure manner. Performs minor repairs on section vehicles to include, adding POL products, etc. as needed. Assists other operators in similar duties as specified by Transportation Specialist leads and Transportation Supervisor. Responsible for the safe operation of a RTCH or safe movement of Crane and proper rigging of items to be lifted. Reports problems/discrepancies with RTCH or Crane to Transportation leads and/or the Transportation Supervisor for resolution. maintains proper dispatch of equipment being operated IAW Transportation Operations SOP and current regulations. Responsible to maintain a safe worksite during lifting operations. perform other duties and assignments as required.

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).


Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma / GED equivalent preferred. 2 years experience in crane operations.

Other Job Requirements Must have all required licenses and certifications for RTCH and/or Crane operations and be able to maintain Crane certification.


Must have a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
