Position Summary / Job Description :

This deployed position will manage aircraft mechanics in the Afghanistan theater of operations on a secure installation. The position will be responsible for the oversight and maintenance of all aircraft/systems in accordance with and within the limitations of the FAA and the aircraft manufacturer. The position will report directly to the Site Manager on a day to day basis. Responsible for the flight line operations to include launch and recovery to support the contractual mission requirements. Organizes and coordinates the shift, work, and R&R schedules.


Job Duties:

* Provide oversight, plan and lead effort to inspect Cessna 208B Caravan aircraft in order to determine and capture parts that need to be repaired or replace in order to return the aircraft to flyable condition as per the FAA, OEM, and Afghan Government rules and regulations.

* Provides oversight over all policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all organizational, contractual and customer driven requirements.

* Responsible for the development, revisions, and compliance of policies and procedures.

* Establishes and maintains necessary files and records pertaining to all activities.

* Responsible for the site set up and activation.

* Responsible for ensuring all contractual reports and deliverables are produced and delivered to the Prime Contractor and Program Manager’s Office as necessary.

* Develops inspection, audit, and monitoring schedules to determine the condition of assigned equipment and proficiency of maintenance personnel.

* Implements the Quality Control Plan, Safety Program Plan, HAZMAT plan and the FOD and Tool Control Program.

* Provides summaries, analyses, and other data necessary for the Site Manager to determine the quality of the overall maintenance, training and warehouse effort.

* Recommends changes to processes and programs for the Site Manager’s approval.

* Ensures the proper maintenance of aircraft logbooks and historical data as required.

* Assigns work to mechanics as required and supervises work.

* Inspect and certify aircraft at specific intervals as required by Cessna, FAA and Afghan Air Force.

* Provide guidance during troubleshooting of system malfunctions and perform necessary corrective actions as necessary.

* Remove and replace defective components.

* Comply with Service Bulletins, Service Instructions and Airworthiness Directives as directed.

* Perform preflight and post flight, turn around inspections and servicing when required.

* Perform maintenance on Ground Support Equipment (GSE), mechanic hand tools, sheet metal tools per OEM-approved technical data.

* Wash, wax, clean and maintain exterior and interior of aircraft.

* Provide Certificates of Completion and endorsed in the student’s training record.

* Provide instructional support as needed by the program for on-the-job training.


Education and Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent Military / Technical Hands-on training with 10 years experience in aviation maintenance.

* Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

* 10 years of experience in aviation maintenance preferred

* FAA Inspection Authorization preferred.

* US drivers’ license.

* History of supervisory duties over direct reports.

* Previoius leadership experience in a deployed environment.

* Familiar with FAA regulatory requirements.

* Previous leadership role in a deployed environment.

* Able to independently determine and develop approaches to solutions with only general direction.

* Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehendaircraft technical orders, job guides, schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, work instructions and technical publications.

* Have the capability to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel and express thoughts in both oral and written communication.

* Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite and Project.

* Experience in working with DOD agencies

* Experience and comfortable working with foreign military services.

* Results-driven with strong focus on delivering significant quality benefits.

* Strong bias for action and ability to demonstrate initiative.

* Strong coaching and development background with individuals and teams.

* High-achieving and ambitious self-starter with a track record of successful accomplishments in training operations.

* Must have an in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.

* Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.

* Physical ability to lift and handle 50 lbs and perform climbing and stooping as related to the job.

* A background in USAF aviation and maintenance management preferred.

* Previous experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs preferred.

* Cessna 208B maintenance experience preferred.

* Turbo Prop experience preferred.

* Must be able to deploy to Afghanistan for extended periods of time and must be able to work in the established austere working and living environment.

* Ability to work an 84 hour work week (7 days per week, 12 hours per day).

* Must possess a US Passport with the ability to obtain a Work Visa for Afghanistan.

* Subject to drug and alcohol testing.

* Posses or able to obtain Secret Clearance.

* Position Contingent on Contract Award.
