Tetra Tech is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Hydro Power Plant Project Manager Candidates for a USAID-funded Engineering Services Project in Afghanistan.
The overall objective of this Afghanistan project is to provide direct engineering and construction management expertise on a design/build construction contract, by others, for our client, USAID. The immediate task is to complete the installation of a new turbine-generator at a Hydro Power Plant (HPP) in Afghanistan.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains the overall program activities for Construction Management Services for the installation of a turbine-generator for a HPP.
- Responsible for the day-to-day technical program implementation.
- Coordinates activities with both the Client and
the Design/Build (D/B) Contractor from the Tetra Tech office in Kabul.
- Ensures all contractual obligations are met, within the approved schedule and budget, and serves as the primary point of contact for USAID for the project.
- Assists in controlling and authorizing in-country expenditures for the project – budget control and financial planning.
- Drives the production of work plans, progress reports, and other major project deliverables.
- Provides leadership and direction to the implementation team, subcontractor services and additional International and Local National staff based both in Kabul and on-site in Southern Afghanistan.
- Solves Project Technical Problems within area of expertise – Adding value, exceeding Client expectations, and utilizing innovation.
- Supervises the project closeout and handover to the Owner for operations and maintenance.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent from accredited college or university.
- A licensed Professional Engineering (PE) is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of related experience in Project Management.
- Proven experience in construction management of HPPs over 15 MW.
- Must be fluent in English.
- Must be willing to accept a minimum 4 month assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan.
