(AFG-KABUL) Russian Interpreter

Job Summary

The lead Russian Interpreter performs translation services on the contract for managers, logisticians, trainers, and supply specialists. The lead interpreter translates Russian documents to English for practical, present-day use on the program, and guides a team of interpreters to translate documents from English into local languages for future use. This position is instrumental in the success of the overall program.

Principle Accountabilities

• Translate aircraft and parts specifications from Russian to English


• Translate user guides and training manuals from Russian to English


• Compile a database of translated documents for use on the program


• Post translations to an internet share center (SharePoint)


• Design and create a library and repository for the documents


• Lead the day to day activities of Interpreters of local languages

Knowledge & Skills

• Fluent in spoken and written language to include Russian, English, and Dari


• Ability to converse between Dari and English speakers


• Ability to execute at a fast pace to translate documents into English


• Ability to use Internet and Microsoft Applications

Experience & Education

• Five to eight years of work as a translator of documents into English from a variety of languages, Russian required, Dari preferred


• Bachelors of Science in Linguistics with a focus in Russian / Slavic-languages and Middle Eastern languages. Doctorate preferred

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds weight


• May be required to respond to a wide variety of operation circumstances, including working in extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure

Travel

• Must be able to travel to and between remote location(s) in austere or inhospitable high stress environments, and work with minimal direct supervision
