(AFG-KANDAHAR) Vehicle Maintenance Manager
Job Summary
The Vehicle Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing vehicle maintenance and repair operations for a large fleet of military/civilian assets including, but not limited to, line haul, vertical handling, material handling, light and heavy vehicles, and/or construction equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
- Execute vehicle maintenance and recovery operations in accordance with applicable contract requirements, company policies, government regulations, and military standards
- Manage the administration, maintenance, and distribution of approved publications, warranties, and government required documentation such as Lost, Theft, Damaged, and Destroyed (LTDD) and Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) reports
- Implement budgeting, analysis, and reporting for the maintenance operation, track burn rates and equipment usage, maintain appropriate stock levels, and maximize cost avoidance measures
- Evaluate and provide for team development and enforce guidelines to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of assigned employees
- Conduct site visits to establish professional relationships with maintenance teams, site personnel, and the customer
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance and supply principles, production, and US military maintenance support systems for material handling, heavy truck, and/or heavy equipment
- Good leadership, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, equipment parts acquisition, and warranty, LTDD, and ECOD submissions
- Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations such as Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), military, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements
- Additional knowledge and skill requirements may vary by assignment
Experience & Education
- Minimum eight (8) years of logistics experience in maintenance management, military/tactical support, or related field with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, management, or associated discipline preferred
- Additional experience and education requirements may vary by assignment
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
