Office Manager - Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America - Washington, DC

An exciting opportunity exists at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the leading nonprofit dedicated to serving our nation’s heroes and their families. IAVA is seeking a dynamic, hard-working Office Manager for our Washington, DC office. This position would have the unique opportunity to support a small but high-impact Policy Team through both administrative duties and support projects within the Research, Legislative, and Political teams.


The ideal candidate is highly organized, motivated, and committed to making a difference for veterans across the country. The Office Manager’s responsibilities will be far ranging from managing office systems and vendor relationships to scheduling high-level meetings with representatives on Capitol Hill. Professionalism, a positive attitude and resourcefulness are critical for success in this role.


The Office Manager reports to the Chief Policy Officer.

Essential Functions


Scheduling high-level meetings with congressional principals and staff members;


All receptionist functions, including answering and transferring phone calls, fielding requests, and greeting guests;


Supporting research and advocacy efforts;


Manage office supplies;


Manage vendor relationships and systems troubleshooting;


Manage all meeting preparation, including providing and/or arranging tech support;


Support event and program logistics as needed;


Maintain supply of IAVA promotional materials, including tracking inventory and ensuring fulfillment of materials ordered;


Manage incoming and outgoing mail and packages;


Other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.


Experience and Education


Bachelor’s degree required;


2+ years in an office environment;


Exposure to a political campaign or veteran service organizations;


Ability to work independently;


Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;


Excellent analytical thinking skills;


Excellent writing and editing skills;


Excellent oral and written communication skills;


Precision and quality focused;


Methodical and organized;


Obsessive attention to detail;


Diplomatic and discreet;


Interest is politics and policy;


Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment;
