(AFG) Maintenance Supervisor FW DHC-8
Job Summary
The* Maintenance Supervisor FW* is responsible for the maintenance of all aircraft, ground support equipment (GSE), fuel handling equipment and other aviation related assets in support of the U.S. Department of State (DoS), Bureau for Diplomatic Security (DS), under oversight from the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A) in the Republic of Iraq.
Principal Accountabilities
Assists the Maintenance Manager by providing guidance, direction and oversight of all FOBs to ensure systemic processes and procedures are in place to ensure the provision of safe and reliable aircraft for our customer
Works in partnership with senior management, quality control and operations to ensure all Federal Aviation Administration, Original Equipment Manufacturer, and Department of Defense requirements for contract standards are maintained
The primary focus is contract compliance to support Department of State’s Iraq Aviation Support Services and ensure sufficient assets and personnel are available to support the mission, establish and sustain procedures to ensure all mechanics meet the statement of work and contract certification requirements
Major additional duties and focus areas include trend analysis, process and procedural compliance and continuous improvement initiatives across the contract
Determines standardized procedures and work schedules to improve efficiency of subordinates
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
CMF 15 aviation MOS series or other military or commercial equivalent
A FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P;) License required
FAA Inspector Authorization (IA) desired
In-depth working knowledge of military, commercial, and FAA technical publications
Must possess a current US passport or the ability to obtain one before assignment
Possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) through the Department of State background Investigations is a condition of employment
A current MRPT is desired
Experience & Education
Nine (9) to twelve (12) years minimum aircraft maintenance experience
Bachelor’s degree is required or fourteen (14) years aircraft maintenance experience with an Associate’s Degree or 18 years of experience without degree
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to three (3) hours per day and sit for up to five (5) hours per day
May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. to the height of 4 feet and be required to lift up to 20 lbs. to a height of 7 feet
May be required to carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
On occasion must be able to lift up to 80 pounds
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs
Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders
Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print
Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ears
Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depths
Must be able to read and interpret hand and type written print instructions
Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions
Will be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure
May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft
Travel
- Travel to and between CONUS and OCONUS locations as requested is required
