(AFG-KANDAHAR) HSE Coordinator
Job Summary
The HSE Coordinator supports implementation of DI field and office Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E;) program and occupational safety and health regulations for assigned program.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
- Conduct facility and site walk down and inspection activities to monitor compliance with Safety Practices such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), etc.
- Direct activities of safety committee and may provide safety training.
- Act as a liaison to the international work force and may act as an interpreter for training and work performance.
- Provide administrative support to HSE managers and professionals.
- Coordinates implementation of the company HSE policies, Safety Management System and Project/location specific Safety Management Plans as they apply to the location.
- Ensure the location complies with the relevant Occupational and Safety Legislation and the respective client’s safety requirements.
- Accept assignments within the safety departments and perform specific duties as may be required.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies.
- Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of the safety program assigned.
- Work may be reviewed upon completion of adequacy in meeting objectives and for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of US Occupational Safety and Health regulations or an equivalent National Safety Standards setting organization
- Ability to type using appropriate word processing software to develop Safety Pre Task Plans, Tool Box Talks, and other associated documents
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate the requirements of the HSE Program.
- Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.
Experience & Education
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Formal certificate of training of either the OSHA 30 hour construction or OSHA 30 hour for general industry is required. Other formal safety certification such as the Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OSHT) will also be considered.
- Two (2) years Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related experience.
- Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
