Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations - Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America - New York, NY

Based in our New York City headquarters, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is seeking a highly skilled and seasoned Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations.This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization as it enters its second decade at the forefront of the veterans’ movement, advocating for our newest generation of heroes.The position reports directly to the Chief Development Officer, and supervises the Strategic Partners team.


The Strategic Partnerships team leads the identification, cultivation and relationship management of corporate and foundation prospects and donors. Current strategic partnerships range from comprehensive relationships with global companies to 7-figure foundation grants for advocacy work.


As part of a senior level fundraising team, the Director is responsible for managing strategic corporate partnerships and foundation relations to increase revenue. The Director will develop strategies and oversee implementation, targeted outreach, cultivation and stewardship of foundation and corporate donors. The emphasis is on growing new and maintaining current strategic partnerships across diverse corporate sectors and in the


professional foundation arena.

Develop strategy and goals that will provide the framework of successful


partnerships.


Lead and cultivate the idea-generation process.


Ensure that IAVA’s mission and priorities are reflected in all partnerships.


Responsibilities


Ensure revenue goals are met by renewing and securing new grants and corporate relationships (including grants, cause, sponsorship, employee giving, and more);


Oversee the development of proposals, including the narrative, budgets and reports;


Strategize and direct vigorous prospect research;


Spearhead collaboration with program staff to conceptualize and market IAVA programs and services; ensure targeted proposals and program-driven funding ;


Work collaboratively with all IAVA departments to research, develop, execute and establish evaluation metrics for all opportunities;


Develop strategies to renew lapsed funders ;


Oversee grant management system;


Provide narrative for use by other department staff as appropriate; and,Supervise and mentor a team of two: Manager, Corporate Relations and the SeniorAssociate, Foundation Relations.


Requirements


The position requires a senior-level fundraising professional with the experience, skills, sophistication and presence to increase IAVA’s revenues from institutional donors, including:


A demonstrated track record of success raising funds and developing long-term relationships with foundations and corporations;


10+ years of related experience in a complex organization, preferably in social services or healthcare;


Exceptional writing, communication and interpersonal skills.


An organized and strategic approach to fundraising;


Proven ability to think critically, achieve results, manage multiple tasks, adhere to deadlines and work well under pressure both independently and as part of a team;


Innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to think beyond the traditional;


Ability to inspire and manage staff and volunteers;


Excellent interpersonal, organizational and team-building skills; energetic and self-directed;


Passion for IAVA’s mission; and,BA degree required; advanced degree/s preferred.
