Afghanistan: Education Adviser (302625-818)


Programme Implementation and Monitoring


  • Provide guidance and leadership to the project staff to ensure the delivery of programme targets and technically sound decision- making processes.

  • Work with the Project Manager  in the preparation, review and regular revision of the detailed implementation plan, (DIP) taking into account agreed milestones, log frame and budget.

  • Collaboratively setting and reviewing monthly targets and work plans for staff in the two provinces of implementation to ensure DIP is achieved.

Monitoring and Evaluation



  • Assures the M & E has access to needed information on a timely basis and in accordance with set standards and requirements.




  • Supports all Evaluation activities of the project.



Project Quality


  • Assures technical quality of the project

  • Collaborates with the project team to ensure timely delivery of project interventions

Reporting and Documentation


  • Responsible for coordinating, organizing and formulating required reports in accordance with project and donor requirements

  • Responds to audit findings leading to improved project performance.

Coordination/Representation


  • Acts as ChildFund Afghanistan;s primary contact with the Ministry of Education and other related and relevant agencies in Kabul

  • Coordinates effectively with other NGO’s, UN Agencies and Embassies that are working in education

  • Cultivates a strong working relationship with the Fund Manager and other stakeholders of this programme.


  • Proactively supports advocacy efforts    of the project at local, provincial and national level.




  • Liaise with the international and national office program staff on cross-sectors and specified aspects of the project implementation to ensure integration and contributing to the program’s core outcomes and area of excellence.



Required Skills



  • Demonstrated skills in training and coaching at various level, including training of trainers.




  • Experience working successfully with Ministries of Education and other government agencies, networks of educators, or comparable entities.




  • Analytical skills and the ability to assimilate and process information on a wide range of issues.



  • Excellent oral and written skills in English with ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas and strategies to a variety of audiences.

  • Previous work experience in Afghanistan or other high conflict zones desirable

  • Fluency in Dari, Pashtu or Arabic highly desirable.

Experience Required


MA in Education, Education Management, or other relevant field; Applicants with a relevant Bachelor degree with significant additional professional certification and significant experience as adviser may also apply
