Hawthorne Army Depot is the largest ammunition storage facility in the world.
SOC Nevada LLC does not deploy overseas.
Hawthorne Nevada is a one mile square town with a population of about 3,500 people.
The nearest major shopping facility (Walmart) is about 75 miles away in Fallon Nevada.
The closest major city (Reno NV) is located about 2.5 driving hours away.
Las Vegas Nevada is located about 5 driving hours away.
Our climate compares to that of Afghanistan (dry desert) but the temperatures are not as extreme.
There are many opportunities in our area for outdoor recreation. Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort, and many back-roads for for hiking, biking, fishing, ATV/UTV travel are a few of the amenities right out our back door. Hawthorne is a patriotic and peaceful town.

Responsibilities:
Assist the manager with ammunition maintenance, renovation and demilitarization functions at the Hawthorne Army Depot, including surveillance, renovation, modification, conversion, minor maintenance, and load, assemble and Pack (LAP) of conventional ammunition items.Ensure compliance with Company and governmental guidelines and regulations pertaining to the responsibilities of this position. Assist the manager in executing plans and policies applicable to equipment maintenance, facility upgrade projects and toxic or hazardous waste management for which the division is responsible. Customarily and regularly directs the work of six (6) or more employees. Has the authority to hire and fire other employees or to recommend hiring, firing, promotion, or change of status of employees. Work requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintain high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect.
Work with the Manager to plan and develop policies and procedures to establish goals for the organization. Enforce company policy and safety standards. Insure demil operations are carried out in accordance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations; hazardous waste handling laws, rules, and regulations; and demil regulations.
Assign and direct Munition Handler Supervisors and crews in the disposition of unserviceable and/or dangerous ammunition/components and explosives by using approved methods in accordance with current directives.
Assign and direct Munition Handler Supervisors and crews in the renovation and upgrade of conventional ammunition items using methods approved in accordance with current directives. Assign and direct Facilitation and equipment maintenance crews in the assembly and maintenance of demil facilities, to ensure the most efficient use of those facilities.
Ensure and coordinate the training of all assigned employees in the proper handling of unserviceable explosive materials. Ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations for the demil areas. Initiate changes to Standing Operating Procedures.
Maintain required records on materials disposed of by demil procedures. Assist the manager in compiling reports on demil operations status, meteorological statistics, and proposed/actual activities, schedules, and accomplishments. Under manager supervision, direct, prepare, and approve reports of activities and work accomplished.
Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.
Qualifications:
Education : A.A./A.S. in Project Management or equivalent in education and experience. Must be certifiable in Explosives Ordnance Disposal and Hazardous Waste Treatment/ Disposal.
Experience : Five (5) years experience in ammunition maintenance, explosives operations, and hazardous/toxic waste disposal activities. Completion of Demilitarization Familiarization course necessary. Two (2) years supervisory experience essential.
Certifications : Must be Green Belt Certified and Lean Certified within 2 years of assignment. Must satisfactorily complete the Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations required by AMC Regulation 350-4 within 90 days of hire. Maintaining current certification is a condition of continued employment
