About Emory Healthcare Veterans Program
Emory Healthcare Veterans Program provides clinical care and treatment for the invisible wounds of war for post-9/11 veterans in the Southeastern U.S. The program offers treatment integrating behavioral health care, psychiatry, neurology, rehabilitative medicine, wellness, and family support. The program also supports the training of behavioral health providers in Georgia to increase awareness of military specific treatment needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 3 years military experience. Some experience in Marketing or Communications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Sedentary); 1-10 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); Negligible 34-66% of the workday (frequently); Negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 10 lbs max; Carrying of small articles such as dockets, ledgers, files, small tools; Occasional standing & walking; Frequent sitting Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
ENVIRONMENTTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases; Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators Environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one deployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan. Established trusted relationships with veterans and local organizations serving post 911 veterans. Knowledge of the Veterans Administration (VA) system and other community-based Veteran resources. Familiarity with PTSD and TBI, and the accompanying challenges veterans and their families with these conditions face. Effective public speaking ability.
Addendum to Job Description
Other specific duties include: Identifying any potential marketing or PR opportunities to share with Marketing and Communications Emory Central Offices; keeping a master spreadsheet of Veteran related events, contacts and outreach opportunities, strategizing ways to promote program with Marketing and Communications Emory Central Offices; coordinating participation in community events and faculty/staff for use in marketing photos/videos/ blogs/ live chats or media opportunities; communicate internally about events and possible media opportunities; keeping inventory of brochures/swag and work with marketing to re-order as necessary; liaise with Wounded Warrior Project and other funders; assisting with development and execution of communication plan for the program; assisting in development of social media messages for the program; gathering content and approvals of Marketing and Communications collateral and documents.
