Computer Network Support Senior Specialist - Lockheed Martin - Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD





This position is contingent upon contract award expected in early 2016. This position is identified as Strategic Review – Aligned to IS&GS. Position is located in Afghanistan: Information Technology Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and sustainment activities for the Primary Mission Equipment (PME) and Mission Equipment Packages (MEP), and Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (PED) systems and subsystems. The primary focus for this position will be to maintain system Operational Availability and ensure that information can be collected in the field utilizing the appropriate sensors. This position performs daily inspections and troubleshooting/maintenance of systems. “Sample Description of Work Performed: Install, operate, upgrade and maintain computers, routers, computer networks, Joint Network Node System (JNN), Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE), Tri-Tac equipment, and related training aids using blueprints, installation instructions, power tools and hand tools. Test computer systems/equipment using published Acceptance Test Procedures, technical manuals, publications and required test equipment. Troubleshoot computer systems and equipment by analyzing problems, isolating faults, and repairing failures using technical manuals/publications, schematics, logic diagrams, wire run list and required maintenance support as needed. Support a LAN networks composed of computers using UNIX, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Cisco Routers and level three switches.

Basic Qualifications

Education Level: Associates degree in Computer Science /Electronic Technology/Tele-Communication or other related technical field with seven (7) years of military technical training/equivalent work experience. Minimum Years of Experience: . Four to six (4-6) years hands-on maintenance of Computer Networks using UNIX, Windows 2000 / XP Operating Systems / MS SQL Server, databases, Cisco Routers and level three switches. Experience maintaining military tactical communications equipment or a strong background in maintaining personal computer in a networked environment required. ” NACI required prior to deployment and within 30 days of start date. Valid passport for at least 3 years. Ability to read, write and speak English Familiarly with basic computer skills Must be able to meet CENTCOM CRC medical minimum standards Must be able to meet deployment training minimum standards Must be able to work with customers and subcontractors in a professional manner


Desired skills

“Degree in (Preferred): Computer Science /Electronic Technology/Tele-Communication or other related technical field Certifications: MCSE, Network, CCNA certifications is desirable. Some knowledge of JNN, MSE/DGM equipment and high speed data networks is desirable. Experience with Promina and REDCOM IGX is highly sought.”
