Job Description:

The Field Engineer (FE) will perform on a Force Protection Suite (FPS) / Standard Ground Station (SGS) service team to conduct both periodic, and on-call Quality Assurance (QA) / Quality Control (QC) visits in order to verify the proper configuration and operation of the FP Suite systems, and to correct any discrepancies discovered to bring the system to proper configuration and fully operational state on high- risk Forward Operating Bases (FOB) in SW Asia. The FE can expect to be deployed a minimum of 6 months to one year. Must be able to perform FPS / SGS diagnostic troubleshooting and maintenance while working on austere FOBs. Must be physically capable of wearing 30 pounds of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while carrying 40 pounds of mission equipment for distances up to 500 meters. Must be: capable of lifting 50 pounds from ground level to overhead; able to climb a 24′ ladder while wearing PPE; able to climb a 200′ commercial tower while utilizing appropriate safety equipment in order to conduct sensor maintenance. Must be able to interface with military units on the ground during all tasks. Must be willing to perform logistics tasks (e.g. assist with inventories) and other fielding duties as required by team leaders. The FE may be called on to assist in the retrograde of faulty equipment back to logistics sites. The FE may be requested to arrange for his own transportation within theater. Must be willing to live and work in austere, hostile environment for extended periods of time. Must meet DoD Height / Weight standards. Must satisfactorily complete National Deployment Center (NDC) training requirements, and medical and dental requirements prior to deployment. Must maintain medical, dental, and training requirements/standards during the deployment period. Failure to meet standards may be grounds for immediate return to CONUS and termination.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION:

– A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required. Six years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Required Experience:

– 2+ years of related Force Protection, Logistics, or Installation experience is required.



  • Security sensor / camera hardware, including communications, installation and troubleshooting experience.




  • Proficient in configuring system devices i.e. switches, routers, and peripherals.




  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    Desirable skills/certifications/credentials:




  • A+ Certification.




  • Network + Certification.




  • Experience working with wireless radios and RF management.




  • Current certificate as OSHA Certified Competent Tower Climber or Competent Tower Rigger.




  • Experience utilizing handheld GPS, and digital camera with 360 degree lens.




  • Experience with basic hand and power tools, and field fabrication of sensor & radio mounts.




  • BETSS-C Academy certified FSR.




  • Recent Attendance to CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) at Ft. Bliss, TX.




  • Current US Passport with valid Multiple Entry Afghan Visa.
