(AFG-Logistics Support Area Anaconda) Principal Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer


THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING Job Description: The C130 Safety Officer/Instructor will be responsible for developing a comprehensive safety program for crew members of the C-130, C-208, MI-17, A-29 and MD530 airframes. U.S. Government (USG) p rogram objectives include, but are not limited to: development of a program to brief safety topics to aircrew members on a recurring basis and develop a safety incident reporting program. Required Hours: Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to ten (10) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while in CONUS. Responsibilities: Coordinate with Air Force advisors on a daily basis · Meet with Afghanistan Air Force (AAF) Squadron Safety manager at least one day per week to train, advise and assist with program objectives · Within 30 days of beginning of PoP, shall collaborate with the lead USAF advisor to the AAF flying squadron to develop an instruction schedule. · Document all training and assess the AAF weekly. · Notify the lead USAF advisor when the AAF can demonstrate that the task can be accomplished independently. Instruct Afghans on Safety Procedures, Standards, and Processes Provide recommendations to improve the AAF Safety Program Provide daily, weekly reports, presentations as required to Program Manager Develop products and train various coalition and AAF aircrew and leadership Develop curriculum as required for aircrew safety processes and procedures. Develop Environmental and Hazardous Waste Program Additional duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Must have Eight (8) years’ experience as a Safety Officer. Must possesses an active US Secret clearance and be able to maintain throughout contract Strong analytical, writing skills Strong MS Office Skills Experience/sensitivity with diverse cultures Strong interpersonal and organizational skills · Good Project Management Ability and Skills · Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions. · Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. · Experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1910. · OSHA 30 hour Course completion. · Experience with US Army and Air Force Safety Regulations. · Experience in Air Force / Flight Line Safety Operations. · Experience with C-130, C-208, MI-17, A-29 and MD530 airframes. · Analytical skills in Root-cause analysis, corrective / preventive actions. · Ability to lead and motivate others toward an EHS culture and shared success. · Be detail-oriented with the ability to work under challenging deadlines. · Use of Quality methodologies to drive continuous improvement. · Valid US Passport with at least 1 year validity · Must be able to obtain an Afghan visa Physical Requirements/Working Environment: · Include but are not limited to the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags not exceed the weight of 70 lbs per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain. · Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas. · Must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location. · Must meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards. · Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day. · Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs. · Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders. · Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print. · Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. · Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions. · Employee may be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment. · The individual may be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region. Desired Qualifications: · Prior military experience. · Previous experience working on a US government contract. · Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/ISO 14001 environmental standards/EPA regulations · Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Overseas experience · Active U.S. DOD Secret Security Clearance Previous experience training and advising foreign military soldiers Physically fit with strong military bearing/appearance Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field, and 8 years of related work experience. Equivalent work experience may be accepted in lieu of educational requirement. 83665
