About the Position:
This position is with the US Army Center of Military History located in Washington D.C. The incumbent serves as the Director of the Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) Study Team and directs a team of uniformed and civilian historians to write and produce a special study of Army operations in Afghanistan.
This position may be extended up to a maximum of 4 years.

Duties
- Serve as Director of the Operation Enduring Freedom Study Team to plan and administer a multi-author special study dealing with Army operations in Afghanistan.
- Conduct research and writing projects and Oral History interviews.
Establish priorities for elements within the approved program, set deadlines, assigns and reassigns personnel based on priorities and project demands and monitors progress in research and writing to assure completion. - Plan and manage the Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) Team’s Oral History Program to assure timely and complete interviewing of retired/active duty military and civilian leaders of Army operations in Afghanistan.
- Plan and coordinate historical publication with Center for Military History (CMH) Historical Products Branch to ensure proper preparation, printing and distribution of historical publication.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Managing a team responsible for historical research and preparing a variety of historical products related to military history; assigning, reviewing, and approving historical writing projects before publication; planning and coordinating the distribution of historical publications.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
- Technical Writing
- Program Administration
- American/Military History
- Historical Research Analysis
Time in Grade Requirement : Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-14 grade (or equivalent).
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications of this position, you must also meet the education requirement. The education requirement for this position is as follows:
1. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
