Description The International Monetary Fund’s Middle East and Central Asia Department manages relations with 32 countries spanning from North Africa to the Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia and the Caucasus. The department provides advice to policymakers on macroeconomic policies and structural reforms aimed at promoting macroeconomic stability and sustainable and inclusive growth. This advice is provided in the context of the IMF’s surveillance and capacity building activities as well as IMF-supported financial arrangements. The department consists of 170 employees. Duties and Responsibilities: Qualifications The successful candidate should have an advanced degree in economics and possess a strong background in macroeconomic and structural policy issues. Experience of working on the economic issues facing the countries of the region and familiarity with regional policymakers and institutions would also be key attributes. He/she should have a demonstrated track record of intellectual leadership, strategic thinking, relationship building, and staff management. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
