Job Title Refrigeration Journeyman
Job Description Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of refrigeration equipment and components in accordance with project requirements and
equipment specifications. Tests lines, components and connections using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic test equipment. Performs soldering and
brazing. Checks refrigeration systems for leaks; monitors refrigerant levels and charges system as needed. May support HVAC operations and personnel
as required. Performs work site preparation and cleanup. Follows safe work practices and maintains a safe wor1< environment at all times.
Under general supervision, responsible for general maintenance and repair of reefer units, refrigerated containers, and/or ice refrigeration units. Assists in everyday maintenance of large and small refrigeration units and may assist HVAC departments as needed. Ensures work orders are completed according to contractual obligations, military regulations, and health standards. May be assigned to an Ice Plant, transportation department, or maintenance department.
May supervise a team of subcontractor, and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).Requires the technical skills, job knowledge and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions. EPA 508 Type I and Type II certification required. EPA Universal is preferred. Valid license is preferred.
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.
Basic Job Requirements A minimum of 42 months verifiable, directly related work experience, is required. High school diploma / GED equivalent is preferred. Technical training in HVAC/Refrigeration is preferred.
Required Licensing/Certification: EPA 608 Type I and Type II certification required as a minimum, EPA Universal is preferred. Valid license is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
