2. General context of the project

The project is a multi-sectoral integrated nutrition/WASH/livelihood project which takes place in 3 districts in Herat Province. The project is to be implemented in consortium with GVC which will be responsible for the livelihood component. INTERSOS is the leader of the consortium and is responsible for the implementation of the nutrition and WASH components.

The project aims at delivering IMAM and CMAM services in the target locations and to support a local partner in fulfilling the national protocols for Nutrition. Trainings and sensitization activities are included.

3. Tasks and responsibilities

The Project Manager of the Italian Cooperation funded project will be based in Herat town and will responsible to coordinate from remote the proper and smooth implementation of the activities to be carried out in 3 districts in Herat Province by the technical national staff. In the framework of the mentioned project the Project Manager will maintain a coordination role. S/he will be responsible to maintain the relations with the Italian Cooperation, both at Herat and at Kabul level and for proper and smooth reporting. S/he will be also responsible to maintain relations with all the relevant stakeholders at Herat and Kabul level.

In particular the PM is responsible for the implementation of the following activities:

  Definition of MoU and work plan with national partner;

  Screening and treatment for all the children under 5 years old and pregnant and lactating women affected by SAM in the selected districts;

  Referral to the stabilization center for SAM cases with medical complications;

  
  


• 
  

  Training on IMAM, CMAM and IYCF to all the personnel, community health workers and community health supervisors;

  
  


• 
  

  Rehabilitation of water scheme and water pumps in the selected locations;

  
  


• 
  

  Health and Hygiene sensitization campaign;

  
  


• 
  

  Distribution of seeds and tools for kitchen gardens activities;

  
  


• 
  

  Participation to the coordination fora and relevant cluster meetings at Herat level;

  
  


• 
  

  Overall coordination and supervision of the activities as leader of the consortium.

  
  

4. Required profile/experience

· Relevant degree on humanitarian studies or equivalent experience;

· Previous coordination experience of nutrition and health programs;

· At least 5 years in similar positions;

· Managerial skills;

· Knowledge of Italian Cooperation donor a plus

· Ability to take initiative and work autonomously;

· Excellent oral and written communication skills;

· Fluent English written and spoken; Italian language a plus

· Capacity to work in volatile security environment and to adapt to basic living conditions;

· Knowledge of the context a plus.
