Subject Matter Expert - SCA/RA Regional Economic Connectivity Officer - Afognak Native Corporation/Alutiiq LLC and its sub - Washington, DC

The SCA Regional Affairs Office (SCAIRA) advances Bureau strategic goals through a wide range of portfolios that coordinate bur­eau efforts on counterterrorism, nonproliferation, political-military relations, law enforcement, energy, climate change, science and technology, economic trade, democracy and human rights, global and regional organizations, foreign assistance budget and programs, strategic planning, and Congressional affairs.

Tasks


Support C5+1 initiative, which seeks to promote U.S. cooperation between the five countries of Central Asia through projects that highlight common opportunities and shared interests;


Support Indo-Pacific Economic Corridor initiative, which fosters greater linkages and cooperation within South Asia and between South and Southeast Asia;


Support the Secretary’s New Silk Road vision, which seeks a secure, stable and prosperous place for Afghanistan in the broader region through increased energy, trade and transit, border management and people-to-people linkages to Central Asia.


Monitor political, economic, and security developments in South and Central Asia, providing timely assessments and analysis, and contribute to well-coordinated USG policy and program recommendations for presentation to the RA Economic Team Lead, Deputy Director, Director, and SCA Front Office.+


Technical support for the office and SCA Bureau at meetings within the Department and in negotiations with other agencies, foreign governments, and non-governmental organizations on various issues, with a particular focus on de­ vising new recommendations to promote economic connectivity within South and Central Asia;


Technical support to establish and coordinate SCA participation in regionaldialogues in areas of responsibility while working to enhance the monitoring of regional organization efforts in areas of expertise;


Other duties required by the office and SCA Bureau as assigned; and,


Apply internal control measures to protect organizational integrity and prevent unauthorized use or misappropriation of sensitive and classified material; report instances of security violations/problems to the appropriate supervisory/ management official; and assume full responsibility for safeguarding all classified and sensitive but unclassified ma­ terial and equipment in assignment area(s).


Required Skills


Required Experience


Master’s Degree required.


Prior Dept of State experience required with International Affairs experience.
