(AFG-KANDAHAR) Airfield Equip Operator

Job Summary

The Airfield Equipment Operator operates flight line ground support equipment.

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

• Operates equipment including K Loaders, forklifts, and similar airfield-based machinery and/or vehicles.


• Ground-guides the airfield equipment and operators.


• Inspects, washes, and performs operator level of maintenance on equipment in accordance with standards.


• Follows related safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies and operating procedures.


• Ensures equipment is properly utilized, maintained, and stored.


• Completes necessary documentation, reporting, and office duties.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.


• Ability to understand equipment load charts.

Experience & Education

• High school degree or equivalent preferred.


• Three (3) or more years’ operating flight line equipment experience.


• Valid Driver’s License.


• AF 171 documented training in operating 25K NGSL (Next Generation Small Loader), 60K Aircraft Cargo Loader/Transporter (Tunner).


• AF 171 documented training in operating Airfield Tow Tractors (Tugs), Truck-Mounted Airstairs, 30T Main Deck Loader preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled.


• Ability to work from elevated loader platforms and onboard aircraft positioning cargo.


• Will work in close proximity to running aircraft.


• Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.


• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.


• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

Travel

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
