IT Manager


This position is located in Kabul and is contingent upon position availability


Job Function:



  • Provide both management and desktop support for all level user requests in the areas of: Proper operation of hardware and software; assist with training of applications as necessary, generally provide customer support for all IT and communications services (including but not limited to PDA’s and cell phones.).




  • Evaluate and report on new technologies to enhance capabilities; maintain servers and personnel computers at a level of security required by PAE policies and procedures




  • Manage and maintain equipment/data/software availability and disaster recovery; provide system administration, diagnostics, and repair of computers, printers, photocopiers, televisions and ancillary equipment;




  • Assist in planning and design of support systems; Install, configure and test computers, printer, and other peripherals;




  • Must be able to install, configure, test, administer and troubleshoot: Microsoft based Servers, Firewalls and network equipment;




  • Oversee and install, configure, test, and troubleshoot communication equipment; installs, configures, tests, and troubleshoots wireless networks.



Job Requirement:



  • Must have 3-5 Years minimum IT experience, including experience in a management role; significant experience in communication technologies (VSAT, HF/VHF Radios, etc) are a plus; Experience in an OCONUS operation is a plus; 2 years experience working in Microsoft windows XP and Vista environments; minimum of Cisco CCNA networking, knowledge of CATV a plus.




  • Ability to diagnose hardware and software problems and implement a solution; Microsoft Server Administration experience; 2 years network experience with small office installations connected to a WAN. Project Management experience a plus.




  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot XP, MS Office Suite, MS Server 2003, Cisco switches and TCP/IP issues; interpersonal, time management and communications skills; Typing, and lifting of up to 80 pounds of equipment or materials is a requirement.




  • Must have working knowledge of current testing and diagnostic equipment. The setting for this position is in a remote, physically challenging region. The ideal candidate must be willing and able to work independently within a structured team environment.




  • Must have the ability to work and function in a structured Program Management Environment with consideration given to deadlines. The candidate must be willing and able to work in an austere environment.
