(AFG-Kabul) Electrician


Responsibilities:

PAE is currently seeking a


Electricianto support the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.


The Electrician will:



  • Perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation and modernization of electrical and fire alarm systems for buildings, equipment and grounds at the AEK Embassy.




  • Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test equipment.




  • Repair malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses and replacing defective wiring.




  • Clean and repair electrical motors.




  • Test electrical equipment such as motors, heaters and controls for safety and efficiency using standard test equipment and by observing functions.




  • Install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors and other electrical equipment.




  • Inspect circuits for specified shielding and grounding.




  • Report any malfunctions or lack of compliance to the Electrical Supervisor.




  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.




  • The candidate is on-call 24/7 and must be willing to quickly respond to all critical electrical issues.



Qualifications:



  • Must have an Electrical Vocational Diploma or completed an Electrical Apprentice program with a Journeyman Certificate.




  • A minimum of two year’s of experience installing and maintaining major manufacturers’ fire alarm systems is required.




  • A minimum of two year’s of experience as a Journeyman Electrician is required.




  • Must be able to proactively analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications and electrical codes.




  • Must have knowledge of the occupational hazards of the electrical trade and related safety precautions and considerable skill in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and fire alarm systems and equipment.




  • Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance projects in an international environment preferred.




  • Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and prepare daily reports and work orders.




  • Must have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.




  • Experience in an OCONUS environment and ability to work effectively with multi-cultural workforce.




  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing English including building diagrams and technical manuals.




  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management and the client.
