(AFG) Sense & Warn (S&W) Radar Field Service Representative

This is a permanent overseas position.

The Radar Field Service Representative (FSR) is qualified and capable of conducting field and sustainment level maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and employment of Q-48 Lightweight Counter Mortar (LCMR), Q-49 LCMR and Giraffe Agile Multi-Beam Radar systems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Report to the Sense and Warn (S&W) Site Lead.

• Conduct field and sustainment level maintenance per Original Equipment Manufacturer instructions and schedule.

• Coordinate logistics for the Radar systems to include ordering of replacement parts and materials.

• Maintain accountability of spare repair parts and tool kits.

• Conduct Operator training as required.

• Perform selection and site surveys of Radar sites when necessary.

• Assist track analysis to determine and troubleshoot indirect fire (IDF) events to include complete storyboard for analysis of IDF events.

• Coordinate with department of state personnel for imagery based map products as necessary.

• Coordinate maintenance schedules with the regional security office or as directed.

• Participate in planning activities.

• Ensure accuracy of all reports.

• Ensure updates to the IDF Tracker.

• Supervise processing of incoming targets for storyboards.

• Update Radar Settings Data Sheet report.

• Ensure operator level maintenance is preformed.

• Submit weekly maintenance reports.

• Fill in as a Radar Operator as required.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Technical training beyond high school

• An advanced degree in a related field MAY be substituted for experience where applicable.

• Graduate of any military radar maintenance course, Advanced or Warrant Officer Target Acquisition courses are desired.

• 7 years job-related experience as target acquisition radar, air defense radar, or other ground radar maintenance experience.

• Former military radar maintenance experience supporting sense and warn in a theater of operations is preferred.

• Must be knowledgeable, experienced, prepared and capable of performing operations and maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and employment of Counterfire Target Acquisition Radars or Air Surveillance Radar systems.

• Good written communication skills

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software suite.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must be able to stand, walk and sit for a prolonged period of time; use hands and/or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distant vision. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Medical conditions or physical impediments may disqualify candidates from overseas work where comprehensive medical care may be limited or unavailable, or where the condition or impediment would put the individual at unacceptable risk. Duties may be performed in an active combat zone where the employee would be required to seek shelter. There may be stress, psychological and physical hardships, and the possibility of living in field conditions associated with this position.

Travel: Periodic overseas travel will be required in high-threat areas and in multiple locations. Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.

Work Environment:

Full-time, usually under hazardous conditions when deployed in a theater of operations.Personnel meeting the provisions of Department of State Standardized Regulations, Chapter 650 – Danger Pay Allowance, and Chapter 350 – Hardship Pay, are eligible to receive danger and hardship pay up to the prevailing percentages over base compensation

Living Environment:

When deployed, lodging, meals, medical and basic life support services will be provided while in a theater of operations, as well as the prevailing per diem rate for incidental expenses (I&E). Living conditions are basic / challenging with sparse amenities which include sharing a tent or plywood structured living quarter with other civilian or military personnel with shared bathrooms within close proximity and no cooking facilities other than microwaves.

Work Location : DOS Chief of Mission sites OCONUS. Any stateside work location will likely be in DOS Annexes in Arlington and/or Springfield, VA.

Medical Clearance:

May be required to obtain a DoS Class 1 medical clearance prior to deployment to high threat or contingency posts.
