Job Title Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman
Job Description Provides maintenance and repair services for Non-Tactical Vehicles (NTVs) as assigned. Performs adjustments, tests, inspections, installations, maintenance and repairs on Light Vehicles or Construction Equipment. Performs diagnostic assessment and completes all necessary service work. May provide service in workshop, job site or field location. Safely loads and unloads vehicles for transporting. Completes necessary paperwork, including work orders, parts requisitions, and inspection reports. Assists other technicians in advanced trouble shooting training and problem resolution. May serve as team leader in major assembly/disassembly and repairs as assigned. Communicates with customers concerning repair and service needs. Follows safe work practices and ensures compliance with all work area safety requirements. Maintains a clean, safe work area.
May supervise a team of employees, subcontractor and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma / GED equivalent is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 42 months directly related experience is required. Tech school certificate or equivalent, covering hydraulics, electrical, engines, power train is preferred. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or major equipment manufacture certification preferred.
Other Job Requirements Requires strong discretion and independence. Equipment design, operation and repair training from manufacturers. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of PC-based business applications. Extremely knowledgeable in equipment and vehicle, application and design functionality and problem diagnostics. General knowledge of electrical, air condition systems, gasoline and diesel engines, drive train, electronic control systems and schematics and diagrams. Knowledge, operation, and application of diagnostic equipment such as volt ohm meter, pressure gauge electronic control scanner, etc. Thorough knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, pneumatic systems and schematics, drive train and diesel/gasoline engines. Can operate most light construction equipment safely for movement in & out of the shop and around the yard. Physically able to squat, stoop, bend, climb, lie on back, lift and pull, reach up and out. Lift 70 lbs., carry 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
