(AFG-KANDAHAR) FACC Specialist
Job*Summary*
Fire Alarm Communication Center Specialist performs dispatch, administrative, radio frequency, and telephone tasks in the fire alarm communication center (FACC). Personnel shall have the ability to ascertain information from various callers and situations. Must possess strong communication and administrative skills.
Principal Accountabilities
- Interprets locally applicable rules and regulations, responds to general inquires and forwards the more technical situations to appropriate personnel
- Cooperates with state and local emergency service forces as appropriate
- Monitors and activates fire emergency systems
- Monitors the installation’s alarm systems (security and fire alarms) and initiates response to investigate and/or assist in response to alarm activations
- Acquires information from installation employees, tenant employees, and contractors requesting public safety services or assistance
- Prepares data for dispatch or referral by evaluating, categorizing, formatting, and documenting the incident or service-related information
- Releases information and data, as required, for the incident or service request that results in resolution, referral, or response
- Extracts pertinent information, given a request for public safety service, so that accurate information regarding the request is obtained
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of fire alarm communication center equipment
- Knowledge of pertinent laws, general planning principles, practices and procedures related to fire alarm communication center programs
- Ability to research and analyze information; trace sequences of response activities to resolve questions; provide resource status information; and recommend actions to eliminate problems involved in tracking or delivering resources
- Skill in written communications to prepare and present recommendations and solutions effectively, including the preparation of written reports, instructions and correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively with high level Federal, State and local officials regarding all facets of fire services training and communications center programs
Experience & Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Telecommunicator I & II (IFSAC)
- Minimum one (1) year of experience required
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
