(AFG-Kandahar) Aircraft Mechanic OCONUS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following duties. Additional essential functions may be identified by the organization and listed as such in the incumbent’s performance appraisal elements. Various tasks may be assigned under each essential function. Those that are listed under the examples of work are not all inclusive; they are examples only and may be amended or added to as needed by the organization.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions, perform necessary corrective action on electrical systems, engines, fuel system, and all other related aircraft systems.
• Reads, interprets and complies with Service Instructions, Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives as directed by the manufacturer or FAA.
• Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures and functional components. • Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure airworthiness.
• Remove and replace defective components, adjust and rig systems when required.
• May specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, functional spare parts and assemblies, and engine repair.
• May service engines and airframe components at line station as required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
• Records maintenance action on aircraft, engine, and component records, forms, tags, and other applicable documents according to FAA requirements and instructions in the repair station manual.
• Perform related duties as required, including flying on maintenance functional check flights.
• Able to work any assigned shift or schedule, including mission support outside normal duty hours and travel as required to support mission requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Incumbent performs other job-related tasks as assigned and required; any duties/tasks included in the employee’s performance evaluation elements are essential to that employee’s position within the job classification.
Qualifications:
The following skills and abilities are required:
• Shall hold a valid Airframe & Powerplants License (A&P) certificate issued by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
• Must have working experience on the Cessna 172 and/or 208 aircraft.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years recent aircraft maintenance experience.
• Must have experience working in a military environment.
• Demonstrated experience in the type of maintenance support required for the customers designated aircraft inventory.
• Ability to determine work methods to accomplish assignments.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation.
*Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
