Duration: 12 months contract


GBP 27,053 per annum

The Organization


ActionAid is an international organisation, working with over 25 million people in more than 40 countries for a world free from poverty and injustice. ActionAid Afghanistan is a country program that is part of the ActionAid International Federation.


The Position:


The position is based on the need to build and sustain long-term security risk management capacity at ActionAid Afghanistan programme. The purpose of this role is to (1) Develop and implement security risk management systems and procedures in line with ActionAid’s policies and informed by country’s political, social and security context (2) to support staff and management in their security-related roles and responsibilities by means of capacity development, staff awareness and effective communication, and (3) act as the key contact on matters concerning staff security on behalf of the Country Director.


Qualification & Experience


The candidate must hold at least a Bachelor degree in security management, social sciences, law or any other related subject. 5 years professional experience in security risk management with reputable company or NGO, of which minimum 02 years must be in managerial position. Experience in security management in Afghanistan or other high risk countries in Asia region is an asset to the role


Other key requirements include but not limited to the followings


Conducts ongoing analysis of the socio-political context and the security situation, and develops and maintains up-to-date context analysis and risk assessment (national, regional, Local)


Undertakes regular and ad hoc security assessments as necessary, in order to gather information and analyse the overall security situation in existing and potential working areas.


Develops and maintains effective security plans, procedures and systems for staff security management and updates them in view of external and internal changes.


Develops and implements efficient and effective systems for security inductions and orientations for new and existing staff and visitors.


Maintains close contacts with all relevant stakeholders to develop a network and builds relationships with key actors to ensure the gathering and analysis of reliable security information.


Ensures that the management receives regular security reports and analysis which will help critical decision making and operations.


Ensures that an appropriate system is in place to provide timely security information to all staff members and visitors.


Develops and maintain an incident reporting system and ensures that the incident register is updated regularly.


Carries out investigation of security incidents in accordance with applicable incident management procedures.


As a member of the National Crisis Management Team (NCMT), supports effective crisis/critical incident handling, in accordance with applicable crisis management protocols.
