Safety Coordinator -Location: Afghanistan Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the day-to-day safety tasks at the work sites to ensure proper wearing of PPE and adherence to safety policies.
- Conducts safety inspections of assigned work centers.
- Assist as necessary in the performance of monthly inspections of all fire extinguishers, emergency fire exits, smoke detectors, on-site equipment as well as maintains documentation of each inspection.
- Ensures that hoists, jacks, lifts, and cranes utilized at the AMC facilities are inspected annually.
- Understands and assists with ensuring compliance of fire prevention, first aid kit inspections and replenishment.
- Assists the Hazardous Materials Specialist with miscellaneous project hazardous materials collection, handling, and storage activities.
- Required to understand and use applicable standards and references from such agencies as: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and others applicable operational activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- a) High School diploma or equivalent required.
- b) 30-HOUR OSHA General Industry or Construction industry certification required.
- c) 8 or 24 HAZWOPER Training preferred.
Experience: 1-3 years experience in the Safety field preferred.
Specialized knowledge and skills:
- a) Knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and regulations required.
- b) Must complete a Safety PQS certification training program with 30 days of arrival to work center.
- c) Fire prevention training and a demonstrated ability to function and coordinate well in a multi-national workforce environment preferred.
- d) Must be able to work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and supervisory levels of management.
- e) Must be moderately skilled in Microsoft Applications.
- f) Driver’s license required.
Job Type: Contract
Salary: $98,000.00 /year
