Independence Program Coordinator - Wounded Warrior Project - Chicago, IL
Essential Job Functions
Research, plan, coordinate, and execute events for Independence Program Warriors, family support members/caregivers, and the IP team
Raise awareness and educate the need to support and sustain the warrior and family system in the community
Maintain regular communication with IP Specialists in support of participating warriors and families
Develop community support and speak on behalf of WWP, especially regarding the Independence Program and Long Term Support Trust
Assist in all grassroots efforts and support specific campaigns as needed
Data input – maintain and update all WWP intranet electronic tracking systems, specifically the warrior, family member, and/or caregiver database (Salesforce)
Must have the ability to travel in support of program and organizational needs
Other related duties as assigned

Must have excellent communication skills and ability to speak in front of diverse audiences
High energy, self-motivated, detail oriented, and supportive individual able to take initiative
Must be able to work independently, multi-task, work well under pressure, maintain a flexible schedule, and complete required assignments in a timely fashion
Exceptional interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player is a must
Ability to communicate with diverse personalities
Able to work effectively in an environment requiring independent and creative efforts
Working knowledge of WWP programs and other resources available for families and Alumni
Ability to establish professional relationships for the purposes of creating a diverse network of resources, built on maintaining WWP’s strong supportive presence within the community
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; equivalent work experience with veterans or military service delivery may be considered in lieu of a degree
Prior work experience planning / facilitating events preferred
Prior experience with high level injuries such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other neurological conditions preferred
Minimum one year experience working with service member/veteran population and their families (particularly with Iraq and Afghanistan era veterans) preferred
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
