The position
The Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all the research related activities of Mother and Child Health component. S/he will develop liaison with all the stakeholders of the community, health facilities and government and ensure smooth operations of the project.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible to:
- supervise study data collection procedures for the smooth implementation of the study protocol
- work closely with Principle Supervisor, Study Manager and Karachi based team to develop strategic plans for challenges faced in field/data collection
- monitor field sites’ daily operations
- conduct routine field visits to ensure data quality and integrity
- conduct random death audits visits to field site
- liaise with local hospitals (private & public), birth attendants and other stakeholders for smooth implementation of project
- liaise with AKU-PA Kabul office for administrative matters
- work closely with GIS person for development of GIS maps of all villages of study area as per the finalized village lists
- supervise data management activities including data editing, entry, data cleaning and data archiving procedures
- conduct trainings of all field staff, supervisors and manager on forms and study procedures
- respond to requests for updates and queries from Principal Investigator
- report protocol violations and adverse events to Principal Investigator
- prepare reports and plans for funding agencies, MoPH, IRB and other stakeholders
- do all such activities that may be required to do from time to time
The requirements
Candidates should have:
- a master degree in Public Health (MPH) or Masters of Philosophy (M. Phil ) in Social Sciences
- minimum 10 years field based experience of implementation of public health research projects at multiple locations
- hands on experience of community based research with respect to data collection, field editing, data management and data audits
- experience of dealing with private and government facilities
- work experience in the developing world
- experience in implementing organizational change
- training on community mobilization techniques
- ability to demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of other cultures, values and belief systems
- ability to demonstrate adaptability, flexibility and tolerance for ambiguity Good command in written and spoken
- willing to live full time in Badakhshan and Tajikistan
- be well versed with English language. Knowledge of Dari language will be an advantage
- computer literacy with familiarity of using Epi Info or SPSS
- ability to lead the team effectively
