RESPONSIBILITIES:
JOB PURPOSE: Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) has partnered with the Army’s Defense Forensics and Biometrics Agency (DFBA) which is the parent organization to the Defense Forensics Science Center ( DFSC), by providing subject matter experts into the global forensics and biometrics labs and being the responsible organization for the Weapons-Technical-Intelligence Exploitation Analysis Tool (WEAT). The Naval Expeditionary Forensics and Biometrics (NEFB) is part of the overall Identity Management concept within the military services. This contract provides support to naval efforts related to forensics and biometrics.
Resumes will first be screened for the requisite skills and experience, and if accepted, the applicant will attend an approximately three month long assessment program at Ft. Gillem, Atlanta, GA. Individuals will then be based in the Atlanta area with potential deployments overseas sometime in 2017. Work cycles typically alternate with one year in Atlanta and six months overseas. Overseas locations can be Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Djibouti. Potential additional locations may be in Africa (final location TBD), Panama, and Hawaii. All overseas deployments include salary increases respective to the area.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) years of experience working in a forensic laboratory performing DNA analysis on criminal evidence,
including blood and bloodstains, body fluids, and stains of body fluids, hair and other items requiring DNA or
related analysis; generation of DNA profiles, performance of visual and microscopic examination of hairs; comparison
of evidence from victims, scenes, or instruments of incidents to evidence from suspects.
Professional certification such as American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) is desired.
One (1) year of experience as the lead of a team of DNA analysts.
