WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT SUPERVISOR – AEK
Reports to:PAE-AEK Deputy Project Manager
Performance Location:The individual filling this position will be supporting PAE on a contract for the US Department of State and working at the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. Periodic travel with extended overnight stays may be required while working on projects at the Consulate in Herat and other locations in Afghanistan. Percentage of travel will vary significantly but on average is expected to be less than 10% of the total time.
Working Environment: The candidate will work in a traditional office setting as well as construction and maintenance sites including exposure to the dangers inherent with such sites.
Work Schedule: This position works ten hours/day six days a week minimum.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Water/Waste Water Treatment Plant (W/WWTP) Supervisor will perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of water/waste water treatment for buildings and grounds.
- Independently operates, maintains, repairs and inspects reverse osmosis water purification units (ROWPU).
- Collection of water samples from various locations, recording data for regulatory reports and adjusting chemical feed rates.
- Operates multiple water treatment systems, raw water wells, chemical feed systems and monitors storage tank levels throughout the site.
- Water sampling and analysis as required for compliance and process control.
- Maintains in-plant water systems and performs assigned general housekeeping duties.
- Maintains and calibrates hand-held and on-line monitoring equipment and treatment equipment as required.
Controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for domestic consumption.
Follows company’s environmental, health, and safety policies, and be an active advocate of a safe work place.
- Data collection and record keeping of various systems in operation according to prescribed schedules.
- Interprets system operation readings and make recommendations for needed corrective actions.
- Maintains effective, timely, and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, and support other organizations.
- Performs other administrative tasks including material ordering, inventory, work scheduling and report preparation.
- General supervisory duties and responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy Project Manager.
- The candidate is on-call 24/7 and must be willing to quickly respond to all critical water treatment and waste water issues.
Minimum Acceptable Experience and Qualification Levels:
The W/WWTP Supervisor shall have the following experience for this position:
- Thorough knowledge of the techniques, equipment and materials used in the mechanical maintenance and repair of water/wastewater treatment equipment and systems.
- Knowledge and experience with the storage and handling of chlorine and other industrial chemicals.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations is essential in light industrial work environment.
- Must be able to oversee multiple workers performing various tasks related to waste and potable water treatment processes.
- Work experience onWastewater Treatment Plants and Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unitsis mandatory.
- Three years of experience in municipal water/wastewater treatment, municipal water distribution, and/or operation of well systems, water/wastewater treatment operation and repair.
- Previous supervisory experience in an OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce is desirable.
- Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and prepare daily reports and work orders.
- Must have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
- Previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions is preferred.
Education:
- The ideal candidate will have formal training in Water/Waste Water Treatment.
High school diploma or GED required.
Language Requirement:Must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management and the client.
Licenses and Certifications: Certification/License as a State Biological Wastewater Treatment and Water Operator.
Citizenship: US Citizenship is required for this position.
Clearance: Must have an active Secret security clearance.
