(AFG-KABUL) Advisor, Logistics


Job Summary


Logistics Advisor shall advise and mentor the Afghan National Security Force (ANSF) on system development and implementation for logistical functions of planning, materiel accountability, materiel management, maintenance management, and transportation management


Principal Accountabilities


  • Train, mentor and advise the G-4 on logistical functions and integrating logistic support to a division.

  • Train, mentor and advise the G-4 on establishing policies for the requisition and acquisition of supplies and equipment.

  • Train, mentor and advise the G-4 policies procedures and directives related to materiel management.

  • Train, mentor and advise the G-4 policies procedures and directives related to property book procedures and materiel accountability and periodically review property books to ensure and report on compliance.

  • Train, mentor and advise the G-4 on policy development and planning to guide the effective implementation of maintenance and transportation programs throughout the Corps or Division.

  • Develop leadership programs which develop the capabilities of the G4 staff.

  • Provide a report on a monthly basis to the Resolute Support Mission (RSM) Train, Advise and Assist Command (TAAC) chief of initiatives and programs he/she instituted to improve logistical accountability, supply operations and maintenance operations and the success of these initiatives and programs.

  • The Logistical mentor will report initiatives and accomplishments concerning the above programs and initiatives on a monthly basis to the RSM TAAC.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills


  • Ability to effectively communicate the results of the studies and analyses to sponsoring senior Coalition and ANSF officials through written reports, briefings, and oral presentations

  • Capability to be effective in a complex strategic environment through influence and interaction.

  • Strong analytical skills using appropriate quantitative and qualitative tools and methods.

  • Automated data processing knowledge: possess working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, graphics presentation, databases, E-mail clients & web browsers, and web content management

Experience & Education


  • Masters’ degree with 6 years’ or Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ experience in military logistic operations.

  • Management experience of 4 years.

  • Understanding of and experience with military logistics and sustainment programs from either a technical or programmatic perspective.

  • Must have a final (not interim) DoD SECRET Level Security Clearance before deployment and maintain that clearance.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Must pass all medical and fitness requirements directed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) in order to deploy.

  • Must be able to operate in harsh and austere conditions of Afghanistan

Travel


  • Must be capable of daily travel in and around Kabul as well as to locations throughout Afghanistan.
