Veterans Outreach Coordinator, Wounded Warrior Program, Executive Park - Emory Healthcare - Atlanta, GA
The Veterans Outreach Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for veterans and their families seeking care and/or education regarding Posttraumatic Stress disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other post 911 combat-related stress issues. The Veterans Outreach Coordinator educates and provides outreach to Southeastern-based veterans about PTSD and TBI and encourages the community to take advantage of services available through the BraveHeart Program. The Coordinator is an employee of Emory University and works alongside a team of world class medical professionals to help educate veterans, their families, social workers, employers, community service providers, veterans’ groups and others to recognize symptoms of PTSD/TBI and the ways in which they or their loved ones can seek help. The Coordinator provides active patient outreach, including phone, email, in-person meetings and text messaging. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 3 years military experience with at least one deployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan. Established trusted relationships with veterans and local organizations serving post 911 veterans. Knowledge of the Veterans Administration (VA) system and other community-based Veteran resources. Familiarity with PTSD and TBI, and the accompanying challenges veterans and their families with these conditions face. Effective public speaking ability – must be comfortable speaking to large audiences as well. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Sedentary); 1-10 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); Negligible 34-66% of the workday (frequently); Negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 10 lbs max; Carrying of small articles such as dockets, ledgers, files, small tools; Occasional standing & walking; Frequent sitting Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Additional Job Details About Emory Healthcare Veterans Program Emory Healthcare Veterans Program provides clinical care and treatment for the invisible wounds of war for post-9/11 veterans in the Southeastern U.S. The program offers treatment integrating behavioral health care, psychiatry, neurology, rehabilitative medicine, wellness, and family support. The program also supports the training of behavioral health providers in Georgia to increase awareness of military specific treatment needs. |
