Boeing Apache Training Systems is in need of an experienced Systems Test Engineer/Apache Pilot for software end product verification and validation (V&V), including test planning, development, execution, analysis, and associated documentation, in support of the Apache Training Systems High Fidelity Trainer. The Apache Trainer supports Army Aviators in training and mission rehearsal.
The Apache TSS Test Engineer will be responsible for:
- Determining the test cases needed to verify the software, hardware and device configuration being developed in support of Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) or Retrofit devices
- Work with Simulator supplier to perform hardware testing prior to delivery to Boeing to ensure quality standards are met
- Providing Verification and Validation (V&V) activity status and burn-down information
- Providing Pilot SME assistance to Integrated Product Team (IPT) members to ensure proper device behavior
- Create verification plans based on requirement criteria stated in Statements of
Work (SOW), including:
a) Determine verification criteria type and test method for the traceability matrix,
b) Populate approved program with the traceability matrix information,
c) Support demos
- Generating test documentation including test plans, test cases, test reports, test procedures, Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) and coordination of all testing activities with development team
- Contributing to continual improvement by way of lessons learned, customer feedback, and corrective and/or preventative action
- Requires frequent interaction and close coordination between Integrated Product Teams
- Support anomaly investigations and present findings
- Participates in gathering and analyzing requirements for test measurement systems
- May either lead a team of test engineers or be part of a team of test engineers on a device
A successful candidate will support in house builds, field retrofits, foreign military sales and commercial sales for the Apache Longbow Crew Trainer as a Pilot/ Co-Pilot Gunner Subject Matter Expert and test engineer. Some travel is involved both CONUS and OCONUS.

Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s and 5 or more years’ experience, Master’s degree with 3 or more years’ experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Preferred candidates should have a minimum of a Technical bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Aviation Management, Math, Computer Programming, Systems Engineering or Systems Integration.
Qualified candidates must have deployment history, in Iraq, Afghanistan or other theater of operations, as an Army rated AH64 pilot with a minimum of 1000 Apache flight hours. The candidate should have experience in a Lot13 aircraft with MTADS8 at a minimum.
Qualified candidates should have experience with the Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) and the Instructor/Operator station as well as unit level training tactics.
Qualified candidates must have least 6 months of Apache simulator experience as either an Instructor/Operator or as a Unit Trainer (UT).
Experience with the AH64E is preferred
Experience with ClearCase, ClearQuest, DOORS, BORIS, Sherlock, VersionOne is preferred.
Being tracked as a Pilot-in-Command, Instructor Pilot or Maintenance Test Pilot is preferred
This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Position requires a current Secret Clearance – US Citizenship . Applicants should include their security clearance level, investigation type and investigation date clearly on their resume.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
