(AFG-KANDAHAR) Salad Maker

Job Summary

The Salad Maker ensures that cold food production is prepared in a regular and consistent manner so that food quality standards are met.

Principal Accountabilities

• Prepare salads according to the recipe in a regular and consistent manner


• Clean and cut vegetables, fruits, and berries for salads


• Mix ingredients for green salads, fruit salads, and potato salad


• Prepare relish plates of green onions, celery, radishes, and olives


• Prepare dressings such as Thousand Island, French, and Roquefort to serve on green salads


• Peel, clean, and cut fruits to be served for breakfast or compotes


• Ensure personal hygiene and work area are clean and sanitized at all times


• Ensure that all food preparation is completed for next shift


• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent English communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and other personnel
  
  Knowledge of food service and sanitation standards


• Willing to learn and grow in food service abilities


• Mature in judgment and behavior


• Ability to multi-task and handle service points such as grille and food preparation


• Ability to consistently arrive punctually and contribute to a positive dining atmosphere

Experience & Education

• Minimum one (1) year of experience in full service or institutional food service environment


• High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Ability to stand for long periods of time such as ten (10) to twelve (12) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies


• Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds


• Must have good vision, English reading ability, wrist movements, and physical feeling to operate food service equipment


• Ability to talk and hear well to instruct employees and assist dining facility customers


• Position requires shift work, days and nights


• Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable


• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions


• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions

Travel

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
