(AFG-KABUL) Mentor Logistics Automation


Job Summary


Mentor Logistics Automation will provide expertise to train, advise, develop management systems and reform elements in the Afghanistan National Army/Afghanistan National Police (ANA/ANP) in regards to logistics and logistics information management systems. Will benefit mentees by helping them understand the purpose and directives of the Core Inventory Management System Enterprise Edition (Core IMS EE) system and of partnered Coalition and Afghanistan National Security Force (ANSF) leadership since Core IMS is used for inventory management and asset visibility to the Logistics Directorate


Principal Accountabilities


  • Create and review training curriculum.

  • Understand Core IMS EE enough to teach individuals with very little computer experience.

  • Advise on the employment, operation, management, and unit level maintenance of multi-functional/multi-user information processing system in mobile and fixed facilities.

  • Provide technical and tactical advice to command and staff concerning all aspects of information processing system operations, maintenance, and logistical support.

  • Conduct briefings on the status, relationship and interface of information processing systems within assigned area of interest.

  • Supervise or prepare technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, and records pertaining to multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems.

  • Supervise or plan, organize, and conduct technical inspections. Coordinate with ANA and ANP on the development of the Information Systems Plans (ISP), Information Management Plan (IMP) so that the automated system for Supply Chain Distribution will tie in with the Information Management Master Plan (IMMP)

  • Work with the Coalition and ANA/ANP in developing policy and procedures for facility operations and management

  • Work with the coalition and the ANA/ANP in enforcing Information Security (INFOSEC), Operations Security(OPSEC) and physical security per regulations and policies

  • Supervise the preparation of technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, software programs, and program editing, debugging, and associated functions

  • Supervise the maintenance of records and reports pertaining to information system operations

  • Brief Coalition, ANA/ANP and outside staff and operations personnel on information systems matters. Supervise and provide written input for Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)

  • Assist with position and assignment management.

  • Assist with maintaining contact and accountability

  • Assist with training and professional development

  • Assist with track progress through weekly reports and ad hoc communications i.e., email and phone calls

  • Assist with review and consolidate weekly reports for trends, deficiencies and best practices

  • Assist with recommend corrective actions, solutions and mitigation efforts

  • Assist with coordination and integration with the ANDSF and coalition advisors

  • Position and assignment management, maintain contact and accountability, training and professional development.

  • Track progress through weekly reports and ad hoc communications i.e., email and phone calls. Review and consolidate weekly reports for trends, deficiencies and best practices.

  • Recommend corrective actions, solutions and mitigation efforts. Coordination and integration with the ANDSF and coalition advisors

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills


  • Must understand advanced SCM theories regarding Just-In-Time, Lean Logistics, Demand Based Planning, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and how to relate these terms with IT systems.

  • Must be proficient in full suite of Microsoft Office

  • Dari fluency a plus but not required

Experience & Education


  • Must have 4 year degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Information Technology, or related field

  • Must be proficient in Core IMS EE (after training)

  • Must have a final (not interim) Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance before deployment and maintain that clearance

  • Experience with ERP or inventory software a plus but not necessary

  • Six Sigma Belt certificates a plus but not necessary

  • IT certificates a plus but not necessary

  • Must have a final (not interim) DoD SECRET Level Security Clearance before deployment and maintain that clearance.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Must pass all medical and fitness requirements directed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) in order to deploy.

  • Must be able to operate in harsh and austere conditions of Afghanistan

Travel


  • Must be capable of daily travel in and around Kabul as well as to locations throughout Afghanistan.
