CADD Technician

PAE is currently seeking a CAD Technician to support the US Department of State and will be stationed at Kabul, Afghanistan.  The candidate will work on construction and maintenance sites including exposure to the dangers inherent with such sites.


Responsibilities: The  CAD Technician will:



  • Use Autodesk AutoCAD software to:




  • Prepare to scale architectural drawings representing site plan layouts.




  • Prepare to scale architectural drawings representing floor plan layouts.




  • Prepare scale elevation drawings depicting layout of electronic and electrical equipment.




  • Prepare isometric details of electrical and electronic equipment and riser diagrams.




  • Prepare electrical diagrams and single-line drawings.




  • Produce schedules.




  • Read and interpret electrical and electromechanical schematics and architectural drawings.




  • Communicate effectively with Design Engineer, Program Manager, and other staff.




  • Mentor other junior staff as needed.




  • Travel to sites as required. – Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:




  • An Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required.




  • Five years of hands-on experience with Autodesk AutoCAD is required.




  • Must be proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD software.




  • CADD Certification(s) preferred. –



Experience creating Electrical / telecommunications drawings for commercial or government buildings is desired.



  • Ability to work  effectively around multi-cultural workforce is required.




  • Must have good  organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.




  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly  adapting to changing priorities  and schedules. – Expert  computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word  and Excel are required.




  • Must be able to clear Minimum Risk Public Trust (MRPT) process and maintain MRPT status through out the duration of the contract. US Citizenship is NOT required.




  • Must have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.




  • Must be willing to travel periodically (with extended overnight stays) as required while working on projects at other locations in Afghanistan.
