(AFG-KANDAHAR) Power Generator Foreman
Job Summary
The Power Generator Foreman leads crews in operating and maintaining power generators to include mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
Principal Accountabilities
- Lead power generation crews to maintain power generators, troubleshoot faults, repair/replace components and generators, maintain documentation, adhere to environmental guidelines, and ensure that all departmental processes are followed
- Coordinate with various departments on installations/generator replacements, scheduled outages, and daily operations
- Order, receive, and oversee inventory of service and replacement parts for power generators
- Coordinate and schedule regular generator services and refueling missions
- Optimize the placement of generators through trend analysis of load data
- Adhere to property control procedures for all equipment
- Inspect and maintain fuel tanks, secondary containments, and electrical wiring
- Perform load calculations in order to properly size power generators for various types of facilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to interpret and apply manufacturer repair manuals, technical specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, and diagnostic tools
- In-depth knowledge and ability to perform maintenance on power generation equipment to include engine, Alternating Current (AC) alternators, electronic controls, electrical wiring, and accessories
- Knowledge in electrical theory and a deep understanding of power equations
- Skill in load testing, all calculations that must be done, and safety measures
Experience & Education
- Minimum four (4) years of experience with power generators, including at least 18 months at a foreman level
- Prefer US military training in power generation, diesel, and electrical job fields
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prefer graduate of an accredited diesel school
- Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
