(AFG-KANDAHAR) Food Service Sanitation Lead
Job Summary
The Food Service Sanitation Lead ensures overall cleanliness and sanitation of the Food Service Operation is maintained in a regular and consistent manner so that food service quality standards are met.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
- Ensure that sanitation issues are communicated throughout the facility
- Implement, and enforce approved sanitation cleanup procedures
- Implement, and enforce safety guidelines as needed, including chemical safety and awareness
- Document training as needed, including chemical safety and awareness
- Maintain adequate cleaning supply inventories of sanitation aids, chemical cleaners, sanitizers, and other sanitation equipment
- Control and monitor usage of cleaning chemicals and sanitation supplies
- Continually monitor effectiveness and adequacy of all cleaning activities via pre-operational inspections
- Complete all paperwork as necessary
- Proactively prevent any microbiological problems that may be due to improper cleaning; troubleshoot any issues that do arise
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and other personnel
- Knowledge of food service and sanitation standards
- Willing to learn and grow in food service abilities
- Mature in judgment and behavior
- Ability to consistently arrive punctually and contribute to a positive dining atmosphere
Experience & Education
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in full service or institutional food service environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe Certified (40-hour management course)
- Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time such as ten (10) to twelve (12) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies
- Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds
- Must have good vision, English reading ability, wrist movements, and physical feeling to operate food service equipment
- Ability to talk and hear well to instruct employees and assist dining facility customers
- Position requires shift work, days and nights
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
- Good vision, reading ability, wrist movements, and physical feeling to operate food service equipment
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
