(AFG-KANDAHAR) Incinerator Operator
Job Summary
The Incinerator Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Solid Waste and Regulated Medical Waste Incinerators.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
- Oversee and operate one or more incinerators that burn Solid Waste and/or Regulated Medical Waste
- Monitor all aspects of machine operation and make adjustments as needed to various control systems
- Continually monitor unit operation to determine trends and recognize abnormal operational parameters
- Take appropriate response actions based on abnormal or emergency unit operational conditions
- Ensures SOP/SOW is strictly adhered to
- Provides Safety Training to all Waste Management Employees
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance/repair as scheduled or required
- Responsible for the correct and efficient execution of assigned work involving the installation, removal, inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of incinerators and related equipment
- Keeps abreast of development in the trade through the reading of periodicals and manufacturers publications
- Coordinates support with Supervisor/Foreman to schedules O&M; support when needed
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of incinerator operations and related equipment
- Must be aware of the hazards and characteristics of rotating equipment
- Must have knowledge of maintenance and repair of incinerators and related equipment
- Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment
Experience & Education
- Two (2) years’ experience in solid waste operations
- Must successfully complete incinerator operator specific qualification program/exams
- Completion of solid waste incineration training program is also preferred
- High school diploma preferred
- Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Job requires light to medium physical work that involves walking, standing and the use of your hands
- Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
